About

AEYD is proud to support instructors and students learning to capture and analyze compost recipes through hands-on field test training.

Compost Research and Education Foundation

The Compost Research and Education Foundation supports initiatives that enhance the stature and practices of the composting industry by supporting scientific research, increasing awareness, and educating practitioners and the public to advance environmentally and economically sustainable organics recycling.

The 5-day Compost Operations Training Course (COTC) is for anyone who wants to learn about the art and science of commercial scale compost production and marketing.

In addition to in-depth lectures by nationally-recognized instructors and tours to local facilities, participants gain practical experience through hands-on activities, including a team pile build and monitoring.

Visit https://www.compostfoundation.org/Education/COTC for more information.

The Training Calculator

The recipe calculations incorporated within AEYD stem from the Washington State University-Puyallup (WSU) compost mixture calculator, developed by Andy Bary and Craig Cogger. Further upgrades were made by Cary Oshins, CREF, and Jorge Montezuma, PE, with troubleshooting conducted by Loi Chau, BAAMQD.
